Broadcast Engineering & Satellite Capacity
Headend & Playout Engineering
Multiplexing, encoding and playout architectures engineered for DVB-S2/S2X, DVB-T2, IPTV and OTT delivery.
Headend and playout problems rarely come from a single box; they come from timing, redundancy and interfaces that were never proven together. We design the signal chain from ingest and encoding through multiplexing, scrambling, EPG/PSI-SI and modulation, with a bill of materials that states the role, redundancy model and failure behaviour of every element.
For playout, we specify automation, media storage, graphics, subtitling and channel branding, then test the handover between primary and backup servers, router paths and upstream sources. DVB-S2/S2X, DVB-T2, IPTV and OTT outputs are validated against the service definition, including bitrate, PCR jitter and ETSI TR 101 290 priorities.
Commissioning includes factory acceptance, site acceptance, failover drills and as-built documentation, so operations teams inherit a headend they can run, not a collection of vendor defaults.
What the engagement covers
- Headend design & bill of materials
- Multiplexer and modulator configuration
- Playout automation and redundancy
- Factory and site acceptance testing
How engagements start
Most projects begin with a scoping call and a written technical approach covering assumptions, deliverables, dependencies and acceptance criteria. Fixed-price and retainer models are both available.
